About The Band

THE BAG LADIES is a lively and accomplished jazz funk band with loads of energy and enthusiasm for music with great grooves. We are seven experienced musicians based in Buckinghamshire and have played throughout central and Southern England. We play our own distinctive material interspersed with covers from the likes of Soulive, Jamiroquai, The Average White Band, Mark Ronson, Stevie Wonder, The Brand New Heavies, James Brown, Jill Scott, Corduroy, The James Taylor Quartet, kC Roberts and The Live Revolution, Phat Phunktion, MF Robots, and The New Mastersounds.
Front Line
The heart of THE BAG LADIES funk is the groove, provided by John's awesome bass-lines, Andy's inspired drumming and Neil's funky guitar. These guys are seriously 'in the groove' - no holds barred! You'll notice a strong jazz influence both in our choice of material and in many of our arrangements - especially when Ben (saxes) and Simon (trumpet and flugel) take a break from funky horn riffs and reach out to the crowd with some razor-sharp improvisation. Katie crowns the THE BAG LADIES experience with her exquisitely soulful vocals and extrovert dance moves!
